Frequently asked questions

The community forum is where vanlifers share experiences, ask questions, swap advice and talk about places they've visited. The website aims to give useful information and inspiration; the forum adds real-world knowledge from people who are out travelling.

Typical topics include wild camping and overnight stops, van electrics and kit, routes and destinations, campsites, builds and general vanlife in the UK. If you're weighing up a purchase or hire, others on the forum may have recent experience — but always do your own checks before spending money.

We publish general guides and community discussion, not professional legal, financial or mechanical advice. Rules on camping, driving and vehicle standards can change and vary by area — use official sources where it matters. Our disclaimer explains the limits of what we provide.

No. VanLifeUK is an independent UK vanlife community and is not affiliated with any other third-party organisation. Forum posts and future classified listings are from community members and businesses, not from VanLifeUK unless we say otherwise.

Listings will be placed by independent private sellers and dealers — not by VanLifeUK. We aim to provide a place to discover vehicles; we are not the seller unless a listing clearly says otherwise.

No. Any sale is between you and the seller. Inspect the vehicle, check paperwork and consider an independent inspection before you buy. Read our disclaimer and terms before enquiring on any listing.

Email [email protected] if you have a campervan or motorhome to sell and would like to list it when the section launches, or to suggest how listings should work. You can also share your build and ask for feedback on the community forum.

Our rentals section is also on the way for short-term hire. For build ideas see van builds, and for owner tips try the community forum.

Listings will come from independent rental companies and private owners — not from VanLifeUK. Any hire agreement, insurance and vehicle condition are matters between you and the rental provider.

No. We do not arrange hire, hold deposits or guarantee availability. Please read our disclaimer before booking with any third-party provider you find via the site or forum.

Email [email protected] if you would like to be listed when rentals go live, or to suggest features for this section. Include your business name, area you cover and a link to your existing website if you have one.

Trip ideas on the blog, destinations under Places, and practical chat with other vanlifers on the community forum. If you are planning a route, those are good places to start.

Service updates are posted on our status page. If the main site loads but the forum does not (or the other way around), check there first before emailing us.

Yes. We welcome favourite campsites, walks, destinations and practical tips — see About for how we work. Post on the forum for community discussion, or email us if it is something you'd like considered for the main site.

We aim to be honest about what we have and have not visited, and we will clarify when content is based on research rather than a personal stay. Future sale and rental listings will be submitted by third parties; we do not inspect every vehicle or business. Always confirm details directly with the seller or hire company.
